Road Markings

1.1

Separates traffic flows moving in opposite directions and marks lane boundaries on dangerous road sections; marks the boundaries of carriageways where entry is forbidden; marks the boundaries of vehicle parking places and the edges of carriageways which by traffic conditions do not constitute a motorway. Crossing line 1.1 is prohibited. Crossing the line 1.1 marking the edge of the carriageway and located on the driver's right side is permitted to stop the vehicle on the roadside.

1.2

A solid wide line marks the edges of the carriageway on a motorway. Crossing line 1.2 is permitted to stop the vehicle at the road's edge.

1.3

Separates traffic flows moving in opposite directions on a road with four or more lanes. Crossing line 1.3 is prohibited.

1.4

Marks places where stopping is prohibited; used independently or in conjunction with sign 3.27; drawn at the edge of the carriageway or on top of the curb.

1.5

Separates traffic flows moving in opposite directions on a road with two or three lanes; marks lane boundaries when there are two or more lanes for movement in one direction. Crossing line 1.5 is permitted from either side.

1.6

Approach line — a broken line whose dashes are three times the length of the gaps between them — warns about approaching the marking 1.1 or 1.11 separating opposing or same-direction traffic flows. Crossing line 1.6 is permitted from either side.

1.7

A broken line with short dashes and equal-sized gaps marks lanes within an intersection. Crossing is permitted from either side.

1.8

Wide broken line — marks the boundaries between acceleration or deceleration lanes and the main carriageway lane (at intersections, multi-level interchanges, bus stop zones, etc.). Crossing is permitted from either side.

1.9

Marks the boundaries of lanes regulated by reversible traffic; separates flows moving in opposite directions (when reversible traffic lights are off) on roads where traffic is regulated by reversal. Crossing line 1.9 is permitted if it is on the driver's right and there is no reversible traffic light or it is off. When the reversible traffic light is on, crossing line 1.9 is permitted from either side if it separates lanes where movement is permitted in one direction. When the reversible light is turned off, the driver must immediately move to the right beyond line 1.9. If the reversible light is off, crossing line 1.9 separating opposite flows is prohibited.

1.10

Marks places where parking is prohibited; used independently or in conjunction with sign 3.28; drawn at the edge of the carriageway or on top of the curb.

1.11

Separates flows moving in opposite or the same directions on a road section where lane changes are permitted from only one lane; marks U-turn places, exits and entrances of parking areas, etc., where movement is permitted only in one direction. Crossing line 1.11 is permitted from the broken-line side, and also from the solid-line side, but only when completing overtaking or detour.

1.12

"Stop line" shows where the driver must stop when sign 2.5 is present, or on the prohibitory signal of a traffic light or controller.

1.13

Shows the place where, if necessary, the driver must stop and give way to vehicles on the crossing road.

1.14.1

("Zebra") marks an unregulated pedestrian crossing.

1.14.2

("Zebra") marks an unregulated pedestrian crossing; the arrow on marking 1.14.2 shows the direction of pedestrian movement.

1.14.3

Marks a pedestrian crossing regulated by a traffic light.

1.15

Marks the place where a bicycle path crosses the carriageway.

1.16.1–1.16.3

Mark guiding islands at places of separation or merging of traffic flows.

1.17

Marks route service vehicle stops and taxi stands.

1.18

Marks permitted directions of movement in lanes at an intersection; used independently or in conjunction with signs 5.8.1 and 5.8.2; the marking with the dead-end image indicates that turning into the nearest carriageway is prohibited; marking permitting a left turn from the leftmost lane also permits a U-turn from that lane.

1.19

Warns about approaching a narrowing of the carriageway (a section where the number of lanes in the given direction decreases) or marking 1.1 or 1.11 separating opposite traffic flows. In the first case, marking 1.19 may be used in conjunction with signs 1.18.1–1.18.3.

1.20

Warns about approaching marking 1.13.

1.21

The word "STOP" warns about approaching marking 1.12 when used in conjunction with sign 2.5.

1.22

Shows the road (route) number.

1.23

Marks a special lane intended for the movement of route service vehicles.
